Alex has a keen interest in the reuse and adaptation of existing buildings, which has motivated him to pursue a path towards becoming a conservation architect. He believes that buildings are like a storybook of successive layers of dwelling, constantly adapting to the occupiers’ changing wants and needs. As such, he emphasises the importance of designing building that can evolve over time, with any changes made being both intentional and in keeping with their original character.

Alex joined Shu Architects in March 2024. He completed his undergraduate degree in 2015 and joined the Architecture Register in 2021. During this time, he has gained experience in various sectors, including leisure, residential and education.

Outside of Shu, you will find Alex swimming, at the gym, embarking on another DIY project or wild camping in the highlands of Scotland.
