GEMMA LLEWELLYN

Apprentice architect

Gemma is particularly passionate about passive design and low-energy buildings, with a keen interest in how environmental engineering strategies can be integrated at the earliest stages of a project. She believes that sustainable, energy-efficient architecture is not just a goal but a fundamental aspect of good design, and she work to incorporate these principles seamlessly into her projects. Gemma is committed to creating buildings that reduce environmental impact while providing comfortable, high-performing spaces for their users.

Gemma joined Shu Architects after graduating from the University of the West of England (UWE), where she completed a dual focus degree in Architecture and Environmental Engineering. Now an apprentice with the practice, Gemma is continuing her studies at UWE, working towards the Architecture Master Part 2 qualification. This combination of architectural and engineering expertise allows her to approach design from a holistic, multidisciplinary perspective.

Outside of Shu you will find Gemma on the slopes of a mountain skiing or in a field, camping.
