Geoff Smith
All about geoff
Geoff studied at Portsmouth and Kingston Universities and brings over 20 years of architectural experience to his work. After earning his degree, he spent two years in Japan working with the renowned practice Atelier Zo, where he not only learned the language but also developed a deep passion for Japanese modernism. His time in Japan inspired a continued exploration of both modern and traditional architecture, particularly the design of "everyday" spaces. In 2009, Geoff returned to Japan for further research into this unique blend of architectural traditions.
Geoff's early career included roles at Re-Format Architects in Hampshire before he moved to Bristol, where he joined Barlow Henley Architects and first began collaborating with Claire. Over the years, Geoff has successfully delivered a wide range of projects, from residential and commercial to marine architecture, across London and the South West. His passion for low-energy design led him to become a certified Passivhaus designer in 2019. In addition to his practice, Geoff is an Associate Lecturer at the University of the West of England, where he teaches and examines Part 3 professional qualifications. He is dedicated to sustainable architecture, focusing on the adaptation of existing buildings and the development of low-energy solutions for new builds.
