No. 50 is a prominent building located on the iconic Park Street in central Bristol, a key thoroughfare in the city.
Park Street, while historically significant, suffered extensive bomb damage during WWII, with many of its bath stone-fronted properties, including No. 50, needing to be rebuilt in the 1950s. Previously a night club, the upper floors of the building have now been converted into modern residential accommodation, breathing new life into the structure.
Urban Creation embraced innovative modular construction methods to deliver a high-quality building on this challenging urban site. The modular pods, designed off-site in Southampton, were brought together through close collaboration with Shu Architects, ensuring both design integrity and efficient execution. The pods were craned into position in mid-August 2019, a key milestone in the project, and the conversion was completed shortly thereafter.
The project has been recognised for its innovative approach, earning a shortlist nomination for the Insider Property Awards in the Student Housing category in 2021. The use of modular construction allowed for a faster, more sustainable build while maintaining the high standards of design and quality expected in the heart of Bristol.
